Art in Public Places – St. Lucie County

Original oil painting by Linda Relis

In 1999, the Cultural Affairs Council spearheaded the effort to have Art in Public Places Ordinance 99-07 passed by St. Lucie County’s Board of County Commissioners. This program, modeled on earlier State and Federal public arts programs, is funded by taking a small percentage of the dollars that are invested by the County for capital improvement projects and placing them in a fund designated to be utilized for the purchase of public art. An advisory Art in Public Places Committee makes suggestions to the Board of County Commissioners as to appropriate locations for public art and nominates artists that are qualified to execute these art commissions.  For more information on Art in Public Places check out the St. Lucie County Florida web site.

  1. Feb. 1st 2013 was the 5th Annual Student Art Show presented by the Relisart Studio and held at The Artist Nest Gallery in Port St. Lucie, FL. It was wonderful to see my students receive so much positive feed-back and so very encouraging for people starting out to get the sense that they’re on the right path. There were even a few sales.
The season is winding down until the 1st week in Nov. when classes resume again. If you would like more information contact me at: relisart@hotmail.com
