4th Student Art Show

On Tues. April 3rd from 6-8 p.m. The Relisart Studio will present the 4th Student’s Art Show and Sale. It will be held at the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens in PSL. The gardens are located at 2410 SE Westmorland Ave. The show will run until May 2, 2012. Light refreshment will be served. It is opened to the public and there is no admission charge.

Port St. Lucie Public Art Registry

On Tues. Dec. 10, 2012 The Port St. Lucie Public Art Advisory Board met. One of the goals was to create an artist registry for Port St. Lucie artists. I am happy to report that we have succeded in doing so and very shortly it will be available on the City’s website. More about that late.

PORT ST. LUCIE — The Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens is now showcasing some of my oil painting. They will be on display until Jan 4, 2012. All of the artwork on display are for sale. The exhibition is open to the public at the Port St. Lucie Botanical Gardens, 2410 S.E. Westmoreland Blvd., Port St. Lucie.

Art in Public Places – St. Lucie County

In 1999, the Cultural Affairs Council spearheaded the effort to have Art in Public Places Ordinance 99-07 passed by St. Lucie County’s Board of County Commissioners. This program, modeled on earlier State and Federal public arts programs, is funded by taking a small percentage of the dollars that are invested by the County for capital improvement projects and placing them in a fund designated to be utilized for the purchase of public art. An advisory Art in Public Places Committee makes suggestions to the Board of County Commissioners as to appropriate locations for public art and nominates artists that are qualified to execute these art commissions. Nervous about my son’s launch from Kazakhstan

It was nerve-wracking enough to watch my son, Air Force Col. Ronald J. Garan Jr., lift off from Cape Canaveral on the Space Shuttle Discovery in June 2008 for a mission to the International Space Station.

Imagine what is going through my mind as I anticipate his lift off on his next mission to the space station, this time from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in the former Soviet republic of Kazakhstan aboard a Russian Soyuz TMA 21 spacecraft.

A Sun Sentinel.com reporter called to get my reaction to the event and they posted this article “Astronaut’s Treasure Coast mom nervous about launch from Kazakhstan“
